This surgery is performed to treat gastroesophageal reflux when there is no improvement with medications.
Typical symptoms include a burning sensation in your chest (heartburn), usually after eating, which might be worse at night, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, regurgitation of food or sour liquid, a sensation of a lump in your throat and presence of advanced esophagitis (Barrett’s esophagus), among others.
The surgery is performed with a minimally invasive approach (Laparoscopy), for better healing and recovery after surgery. Timely surgery prevents the progression of the disease and therefore complications.
